I have almost ten years experience as a Private Math Tutor!! I have also worked for a leading test placement facility, and I have come to realize that one size does not fit all. Every student is different and the approach to help them must be as well.

Mathematics is my specialty with particular courses of Middle School Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I and II, Trigonometry, Geometry, Pre-Calculus and Calculus. Several years ago, I retook the Math portion of the SAT and made a PERFECT score of 800.

I also work with students as they are preparing for the math portion standardized tests such as the ISEE, SAT, ACT, and GRE to help refresh concepts and practice the test taking environment.

I tend to focus on having students recognize concepts of the problems they face so that through repetition and structure, problems solving comes more easily and they build confidence in their abilities. I also tutor Science and Technology subjects with a particular interest in Chemistry (General, Organic, Biochemistry)and computer science courses.

I have two Masters degrees, one in Computer Science (SMU) and one in Biomedical Engineering (UT Southwestern Medical Center). Professionally, I have been a Technical Consultant and Sales Engineer in Healthcare Information Technology for 13 years and have nearly 30 years total working experience (over 20 years in Healthcare). I am currently a Field Product Engineer for a leading Medical Imaging/IT company.

I typically tutor in a public setting such as a Barnes and Noble. I am passionate about your success and I look forward to the opportunity to work with you or your child to create positive results!!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

I have been a College Test prep tutor for ACT/SAT for three-four years. I specialize in the math portion of the test. I retook the Math part of the SAT in Oct 2009 and made a perfect score of 800. I am experience in both helping students prepare for the ACT/SAT test by reviewing mathematical concepts that they may not have seen in a long time to achieve outstanding success. I also work with their test taking skills so that they can achieve the best results possible.

Algebra 1

I have 36 years experience in Math and Science. I have three STEM degrees including two masters in Biomedical Engineering and Computer Science. I have tutored in Algebra 1 for the last 4 years and am prepared to teach in linear algebra, group theory, ring theory and elementary level.

Algebra 2

I have 36 years experience in math and science. I have three STEM degrees including two master's in biomedical engineering and computer science. I have also tutored algebra 2 for the last four years, and I am very comfortable in teaching this to your son or daughter.

American History

I have 36 years of experience in Math and Science. I have three STEM degrees including two masters in Biomedical Engineering and Computer Science. I have studied and am ready to tutor in key history subjects such as American History, WWI, WWII, and International History along with Current Events.

Chemistry

I have my undergrad degree from UT Austin and my Biomedical Engineering degree from University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Chemistry is one of the foremost important courses in my field of study. I took one year of general chemistry, one year of organic chemistry, one year of Biochemistry and one semester of Analytical Chemistry. I also had two years of Chemistry in High School and have tutored several students at the High School level in Chemistry.

Computer Engineering

In the Master's Degree for Computer Science and Engineering, my concentration was in Computer Architecture and Hardware. I also am very knowledgeable on computer hardware. As part of my product marketing experience, I worked closely with our development teams in hardware selection and qualification - developing Bills of Materials. This would lead to the setting of product pricing in the Product Commercialization Process.

Computer Programming

I have done a variety of computer programming over a 12 year period for a number of different applications and college/grad school courses. Most of the programming has been done in older higher level languages such as Basic, Jovial (both J3B and J73), Fortran, C, and Pascal as well as assembly level languages. I have test real time simulator applications and debugged software at the assembly language level. I have also programmed using computer graphics instructions which are embedded in the higher level languages.

Computer Science

I have 36 years experience in math and science. I have three STEM degrees including two master's in biomedical engineering and computer science. I am very comfortable with Computer Science and can easily tutor anyone who needs help in this subject.

Elementary Math

I have 36 years experience in math and science. I have three STEM degrees including two master's in biomedical engineering and computer science. I have tutored in subjects such as calculus and trigonometry; elementary math is a mastered subject that I have no trouble at all with.

Fortran

I learned Fortran in college and programmed in it in my Graduate School positon as a Research Associate in the Radiology dept at UT Southwestern. During this time, I developed numerous programs in Fortran and debugged them for various applications. Although I know it is not used much these days, I still have access to my old code and am still familiar with Fortran concepts.

In the Masters Degree for Computer Science and Engineering, my concentration was in Computer Architecture and Hardware. I also am very knowledgeable on computer hardware. As part of my product marketing experience, I worked closely with our development teams in hardware selection and qualification - developing Bills of Materials. I also have good knowledge of computer software, database applications, desktop applications, and operating systems.
