Until recently, I have worked as an ESL instructor at the Wizard Language School in Peabody, MA. There, I taught group and private lessons to adults and young people, developing much of my own curriculum in teaching listening, reading, writing, speaking and grammar lessons. I also used the school course books regularly. Unfortunately, the Peabody school went out of business in March, 2013.
Having taught on a part-time basis, I was brought on as a full-time teacher at the Wizard School in January 2011. Most often my lessons are theme based, providing a series of structured critical thinking exercises, as well as more student based free practices. To be better understood, and to maximize efficiency, I minimize "teacher talking" during lessons. While providing challenging lessons, my classes are characterized by an atmosphere of trust and acceptance. Evaluations from students, supervisors and improved student test scores make clear my effectiveness as a teacher.
