In today's fast paced and highly competitive environment, obtaining scholarships and completing one's higher education from a regionally accredited and well known university has become crucial to professional and personal success. Don't let your SAT or ACT scores stop you from getting accepted into your dream university!
As a tutor specialized in College Prep and College Admissions, I have researched and developed an SAT and ACT prep curriculum and I tailor my course and handouts to meticulously suit each student's unique needs. My hands-on curriculum incorporates PowerPoint presentations and videos to cater to students with all types of learning preferences.
I have also developed a curriculum for students aspiring to enroll in the Duke TIP program.
As a College Prep tutor, I strive to equip you with the skills necessary to be successful in ALL your future endeavors. My SAT Scores, after just the first attempt, were: 780 in writing, 700 in reading and 720 in math. I have been teaching the SATs and PSATs for over a year and all of my students have a track record of increasing their scores between 200-500 points. I also go the extra mile of guiding students through the college admissions process and beyond. Because of requests from parents and students alike, I now also conduct sessions on study skills and strategies to prepare college-bound students for what lies ahead.
I have a BA from the University of California Irvine. As an undergraduate, I was also a Humanities Core Honors student. I was selected by UCI to complete an intensive and rigorous reading and writing curriculum which has not only honed my linguistic skills but also exposed me to academics and professors who have mentored me throughout my college career. My skills have been honed to a point where where I have excelled in reading and writing as well as curriculum development and planning.
I am an Aga Khan Education Board certified teacher and have over 5 years of teaching experience in the states of California and Texas. I have also taught abroad for 2 years.

Approximately 40% of my current students are attention deficit and they are all referrals from former students with the same special educational needs. I have a track record of success with my special needs students simply because unlike most tutors, my College Prep Curriculum is hands-on and actively engages my students. My curriculum is taught with the aid of educational videos, power point presentations and flash card games among other tools. Such tools have consistently generated interest in my students and have kept them focused for longer periods of time. Students find themselves motivated after my classes and are determined to give tests like the SATs and ACTs their best shot!
I have worked closely with faculty and administrators affiliated with the admissions department at the University of California, Irvine. I have also attended workshops and webinars, which keep me updated on the criteria that admissions officers and deans consider highly when reviewing applications. My forte lies in admissions essay consulting. I have worked with numerous students in Asia, Europe and the US and have helped them put their best foot forward when applying to prestigious institutions such as Cambridge, the London School of Economics, NYU and UC Berekeley (among many others). I believe that the best way to express yourself in an admissions essay is by, in the words of Steve Jobs, "connecting the dots". Once you take time out to see how far you have come and what you have accomplished, only then will you be able to have a clear vision for your future. My job is to simply use my knowledge and extensive research to help you find your voice and make you connect the dots.
Over the years I have worked with numerous students with special educational needs. About 10% of my current students are dyslexic. I love working with my special needs students as they give me an opportunity to grow my skills and mold my hands on curriculum to fit their needs. I tutor with the aid of electronic tools that help lay out my curriculum visually on a smart screen. Most of my students learn better through videos and images and the information that I teach is usually delivered through actively engaging my students visually as well as verbally. This helps students piece together valuable information, which they then retain and apply both academically and professionally.
I will work with your child thrice a week to ensure proficiency in reading writing and mathematics. The PSAT is a rigorous test and is often used by numerous non-profit, public and private organizations to determine whether your child is qualified to receive a merit-based scholarship. This is crucial if you have limited resources and would like your child to take advantage of higher education from an accredited academic institution. I inspire students from eighth grade onwards to excel not only at test taking but also in all their pursuits whether academic personal or professional.
I have two methods of teaching the math portion of the SAT. The first method is to test my students in the different categories and customize the course to their individual needs. The second, is to start at the beginning and teach or re-teach all math topics of the SAT. I have structured a course that covers every, and I mean every, math topic there is in the SAT, and pride myself in explaining the subjects in such a way that any student will obtain a firm grasp of the concepts. The next step will be to teach the strategies and methods of "how" to take the SAT. The last and final step is to bombard the student with practice to ensure the retention of everything that I have taught them. I am confident that after learning from me, my student will love math.
Reading is one of the most important subjects in the SATs through which Collegeboard tests your child. It is by far also the most difficult as it pushes your child to think critically. I work thoroughly with your child until he or she is thoroughly familiar with the content ETS places in the SAT critical reading section. Not only will you notice an increase in your child's vocabulary but you will also witness a difference in the way your child expresses him/herself. I strive to inspire as only inspiration fortifies a child's personality and motivates the child to enjoy all works of the english language and literature. This is crucial for not only academic but ultimately professional success.
In order to tackle the SAT writing component I find it necessary to take all of my students back to the basics of the English language. After reacquainting them with basic linguistics I teach them how to identify errors within sentences and paragraphs. I also equip them with unique and potent skills essential in persuasive essay writing.
Such a motivating and great tutor! — I came to Natasha around the end of my junior year in high school, in panic from my extremely low SAT score of about a 1500. Despite starting so late, she took me in and set me up for a crash course SAT curriculum. Within 8-9 weeks, Natasha took me in twice a week for two hours each session. She focused on Math and Writing during this time and I was able to improve my score over 300 points. I came ...
