As an Ordained Minister one of things I have to do on a regular basis is study the Holy Bible. I can assist any student or group with study of the sacred text with various methods i.e., inclusive, subject, character studies methods just to name a few. I believe the study of the Bible is not only helpful in our daily life challenges but can be fun and quite enjoyable as well. I have studied the Bible since I was 17 years old.
I have been composing music since I was 17. As a music major at the City College of New York I enjoyed studying music theory, composition and orchestration. I continue to study and practice these musical disciplines to this day. I look forward to imparting the knowledge and wisdom that I have learned down through the years with the right student(s).
I am a cartoonist and graduated from the prestigious Art & Design High School in New York City (my major was animation/cartooning). I studied figure drawing, 2 & 3 dimensional design, painting etc. while I attended the City College of New York (Art was my minor). I can assist the student of any age with the basics of drawing with the traditional medium of pencil, pens, markers etc. I work well with budding cartoonists.
While I studied ear training in my musicianship classes in college I had to learn the practical application of it at the age of 17. The Pentecostal church I attended at the time did not use hymnals for worship service and I had to learn first hand how to accompany the worship leader/congregation at the organ or piano. I can assist the student in developing this discipline for his/her academic studies as well as for practical applications.
I have a Bachelors of Arts degree as a Music major from the City College of New York. I can assist the student with their questions within the area of general music, i.e., what is music? what are the basic components of music? what types of music are there? what is the difference between pitched and unpitched instruments? etc.
I can assist the complete novice to computers and Microsoft Word with the basics. I can help them as they gain familiarity with the software and gain confidence in accessing the wonderful benefits of this program. Once I have assisted with them through the practical applications then they will be able to navigate the program on their own.
In 1989 when I first entered the studio to record my first music project the master was recorded on tape on a large reel. I have watched how the industry has changed and I have always stayed current in knowledge and usage of the latest changes in technology. I have recorded, produced and co-produced numerous music projects. I can assist you with the technical obstacles that you may have to contend with. Also I can help you with the all too important issue of the management of your production. It is very easy to be so engrossed in the creative flow that you can simply neglect the whole business matrix resulting in unnecessary waste in time and money!
I love Music Theory, and it was one of my favorite courses in college! I received my Bachelor's of Arts in Music from The City College of New York. I received an honorary Master's degree in Sacred Music from Friends International University in California for my accomplishes in teaching Music Theory and Piano/Keyboard, Compositions/Orchestrations and for Church Music rendered for weekly services, conferences, convocations, concerts and theatrical performances. I love sharing my expertise with students of all ages from the beginner up to the undergraduate level.
I worked over 11 years in the WIC program in the economically challenged areas of Brooklyn, New York. It was there that I received much needed knowledge about nutrition from my co-workers, the nutritionists. Also I received additional information at our annual regional and New York State WIC conferences. I would assist the nutritionists on a daily basis with enlightening our WIC participants, pre-natal and breast feeding women along with mothers/caretakers with infants and young children, the importance of proper eating habits for themselves and their families.
I began my private classical piano studies at the age of 14. I have been playing the piano, keyboards and Hammond organ for church since the age of 17. I can assist the beginner student up to the intermediate student with their sight reading, technique and practice disciplines.
As an Ordained Minister at all times I have to be prepared to publicly address a congregation or group. It is part of my job description. Yet with all the years of practice I still get nervous. Because of my 30 years of experience speaking before audiences in various capacities I can aid the novice and the practiced orator who are petrified to get before people.
There are techniques that you can use to give the audience the impression that you are confident and know what you are doing even though you are not. No matter how much material about public speaking that you digest, at the end of the day you have to do it yourself. And because it requires an action, you will need to permit someone to critique you.
As your trainer I will watch and listen to your presentation and give you an unbiased constructive criticism. I will give you some innovative techniques that you can use to knock down that seemingly impenetrable wall of nervousness. Then you will boldly get up and give that speech with pose, purpose and power!
I have loved reading since I was a young child. I love working with the student of any age that needs assistance for school, work or personal enrichment. I am extremely patient and do not mind assisting any individual with a desire to learn how to improve their reading skills.
I am an Ordained Minister. My specialty is Christianity. However, after many years of research, I have ascertained that there is a spiritual thread that runs through all the religions. I will share with you, as we examine the various religions together, that we are not to look out at the variety of expression of rituals, ceremonies, rites etc. with a critical eye. But may I suggest to you, that maybe we should be the humble observer, ready to glean the golden nuggets of truth that they have to offer. From Moses, Buddha, Jesus, Muhammad, Confucius and Rumi, to Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr. and the Dali Lama, there has been a wealth of wisdom, insight and understanding from these great religious leaders.
I can assist you in your religion studies. I can show you the definition of religion from the intellectual prospective and what it means to the individual practitioner. “At the bottom of the mountain, our differences appear to be so wide. As we ascend together up the mountain, our distance between one another diminishes. When we all reach the top of the mountain, we discover that there is no distance. We are all one!”
I wrote my first musical composition when I was 16 years old. Then as an undergraduate music major at The City College of New York, where I received my Bachelor of Arts degree, I received a well-rounded, excellent, musical foundation to enhance and sharpen my songwriting skills. I have written songs within a wide range of genres: hymns/anthems, spirituals, praise & worship, country gospel, traditional gospel, contemporary gospel, gospel jazz, prophetic music, new age, meditation, inspirational, folk, r & b, soul, funk, cool jazz, Broadway, pop, soft rock, easy listening and neo-classical. I know firsthand what musical writer’s block is and I know some helpful methods to get you through it.
I have had the privilege to learn how to perfect my acting, script writing (plays, skits), improvisational acting, directing/producing, and stage management skills for over 10 years at the former Masters Theater located in the Upper Westside Section of Manhattan. I can assist and give some practical advice from what I learned. I can help you overcome stage fright, learn how to engage the audience, as well as how to manage that stage production.
