Homeschooling my three daughters for the last eighteen years, my life revolves around loving them and teaching them. Reading, writing, literature analysis and all things English, delight our family and provide joy and discussion around our dinner table most evenings. Three different students with different learning styles challenged my abilities as a teacher at times, but my resulting interactive learning methods, writing models and diagnostic tools accommodate the most neophyte writer and most fledgling reader. My older daughters scored near perfect (1600) on their reading and writing scores for SAT! Your student will achieve mastery of reading/writing in my tutoring environment, as well.

Delivering the “missing link” concept of grammar, or spelling, or writing, or literature, to a frustrated student differentiates my instruction methods from any other tutoring method. When your pupil recognizes and places these “missing links” into his existing academic framework of English, an attitude of confidence emerges and the desire to write and read increases. Augmented reading desire signals increased academic appetite and improved grades!

When majoring in Communications at Baylor University, my passion for Speech and Journalism spawned compassion for the communicators in a our newly-created technological age. So when I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1986, I immediately entered the world of teaching adults how to communicate in a digital world. My writing expertise came in handy as I taught word-processing skills of different software programs to classrooms of professionals who now needed to create their annual reports, performance brochures, and training manuals via desktop publishing. From the classroom, a tutoring business rapidly emerged and carried my career until Mommy time, when I took off the career hat and put on the mothering one when I birthed my first child with husband, Robert.

Eighteen years and two additional daughters later, my passion for teaching ignited by a love for my children, I tutor twenty plus students of varying ages on a weekly basis in all facets of communicating the English language from reading and writing to speaking. Marriage to my husband Robert for twenty-six years and mothering my three daughters, nourishes my love of family and heightens my aspirations to propel children to success in our culture. Allow my zeal for articulating a message, sensitivity to missing links, and tenderness towards family, attain academic success for your learner today.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Dyslexia

The dyslexic students I tutored using the Wise Guide by Sanseri method, experienced success in reading and writing. The ideal time to apply this tool is when the child is in the grammar level; however, I have used it successfully with a tenth grader over the past two years. My now-senior student successfully scored in the top 3% on the reading comprehension and writing sections of the SAT and my ninth grader scored perfect on the reading comprehension and in the top 5% on the PSAT. Helping children read and write is my passion.

Elementary (K-6th)

Using the Wanda Sanseri method, "Spelling to Write and Read" as a homeschooling mother, my children not only succeed in reading but scored close to perfect on the reading and writing sections of the SAT. Using this method, "sight words" don't exist and attack skills exist for all words and word phrases. Due to my success rate in teaching in this area, I look forward to assisting other children. I successfully have taught math, science, and other grammar level subjects using a variety of tools.

PACES PAidea 11th/12th English teacher

Public Speaking

My public speaking background includes a degree in speech from Baylor University, speech writing for the Dallas mayor, coaching the high school speech team, and personally speaking on a variety of subjects. As a writing instructor, I find that speech-writing instruction comes easily for me since its structure mimics an essay. My experience in coaching high school students for contest prepares me exponentially for coaching delivery of a speech.

Reading

Homeschooling my three daughters for the last eighteen years, my life revolves around loving them and teaching them. Reading, writing, literature analysis and all things English delight our family and provide joy and discussion around our dinner table most evenings.

SAT Reading

Eighteen years of teaching at all levels provides the foundation required to school all levels of students in all things English. The perfect SAT scores by my students in the writing and reading comprehension sections speak volumes about the caliber of my training--and their smiles communicate the fun experienced while learning. An evaluation of your skills prior to training comes free of charge with my lessons.

Study Skills

I tutor twenty plus students of varying ages on a weekly basis in all facets of education. Allow my zeal for articulating a message, sensitivity to missing links, and fervor for study skills prepare your learner today.
