I have been a teacher for 17 years, 10 years in public school and 7 years in Christian school. Although my degree is in Spanish, the bulk of my teaching experience has been in English. I graduated from college with minors in English (36 hours), history, and business management. I have a passion for writing, and I just published my first book entitled "Beyond the Gift of Life," a book about making the commitment to be a stay-at-home mom while your children are in their preschool years.
Last year, I had the privilege of teaching two SAT prep classes, where we focused a great deal on the persuasive essay, critical thinking skills, and, of course, the math, reading, and writing portions of the test. I absolutely loved it, and many of my students scored in the 1700-1900 range.
I have taught all levels from 7th to 12th grade, and my areas of responsibility have included: English, Spanish, art/theater arts, speech, Bible, keyboarding, and yearbook. I am also pretty skilled in math and took all honors math in high school.
With the right amount of patience, skill, humor, and a willingness to adapt to individual students' needs, I believe I can be a valuable resource to any student who is struggling academically.
