I am a stay at home mother and wife. I have been married for 8 years and now have 3 children. My family consists of husband and myself, plus a 7 year old boy, 5 year old boy, and 3 year old girl. I decided that I wanted to home-school before I even gave birth and that is what I started doing from the very beginning. My children have never been in any form of public school or daycare facility. I am a follower of Jesus Christ and attend church regularly. I also lead praise and worship with my husband. My kids are very advanced for their ages and I always get told of how well behaved they are. I have nothing against the public school system (I have a mother and sister who teach in it) but this is just the path that was best for us.
I would like to offer homeschooling classes to 2 children outside of my family. Ideal candidates would be close to my children's age. After doing research, I have found that I can only take up to 2 or maybe 3 students outside of my family, legally, and so I would like to follow those guides so I have no problems. With my oldest child (7 year old), I use the BJU curriculum for 2nd grade. It is a great curriculum and Christian-based. For my 5 year old, it is only mandatory for him to take a Math and some type of Phonics course. We use Explode the Code for his Phonics and he has been reading since 4 years old. He knows all of his letters and the sounds they make and has now began writing in cursive along with my 7 year old. My 3 year old is considered to be in Jr. Pre-K. At this age, socialization is all that is concentrated on, but she is really advanced and likes to sit with her brothers while they learn. Therefore, she already can identify all of the letters and knows what sounds most of them make. She can writer her name, as well as most letters in the alphabet. She can identify all shapes, colors, and numbers. I also implement a Spanish lesson on the computer.
I am an ex-Art teacher, so I do teach art classes as an extracurricular and my husband is an ex-pro musician and would be able to do music classes if desired. My kids are very sweet and love home-school. I think they would be excited to have a couple of new faces join them for class. They are involved in the Kid's Ministry at church and also take part in YMCA sports, so they are able to interact with others and have no problems with social skills. I am not prepared to take special needs kids, because I feel that takes some special training and experience that I do not have. My previous experience in the public school system include being a substitute teacher and Art Teacher for grades K-8. I am also CPR certified, and will continue to get it renewed every 2 years. If you are a working mother or father, but you still wanted the benefits of homeschooling, I would love to talk with you about what I can offer. This could be a great opportunity for your kids as well as my kids. The payment can be settled after we talk in more detail about your children and their age/grade. Give me a call with your interest. Thanks for reading and God bless.
