I am an experienced classroom teacher. For the past six years, I have taught Algebra I (2006-2012). One of my job requirements was to offer tutoring two days a week. Because I was devoted to my students’ learning needs, I offered tutoring before and after school every day of the week. I actually looked forward to my tutoring hours.
I love to teach but, with a classroom of 25+ students, it is very difficult to focus on one individual student and cater to their individual learning needs. Therefore, I encouraged tutoring. It allowed me to provide my students with a one-on-one learning environment and to analyze what concepts the students did not understand. This gave me the opportunity to re-teach the lessons and use different techniques to help them grasp the new or maybe even older concepts. In math, there is one answer, but more than one way to find that answer.
I loved to teach one-on-one. My passion or calling in life is to teach math and I enjoy it. It gives me great joy to see my students improve and succeed.
