I really enjoy individual mentoring which is more than just tutoring of students. Mentoring involves guiding them in the current material and giving them additional tools to use in the future. I love to watch people learn and enjoy use of a variety of techniques to help accomplish their goals. I focus on the strength of the individual and feel that everyone has the potential to learn as long as they have the right tools. Not everyone learns the same so together we can identify the students learning style allowing them to adapt to courses requirements.
I have received many awards for math and science accomplishments in high school graduating with 4.0 GPA. I graduated with honors from UNC with degree in Bio-Chemistry with additional masters level courses require advanced biology and chemistry classes. I went on to do my graduate work teaching and studying genetics at Texas A&M. My post-doctoral work was at OHSU in neuroscience requiring mentoring of high school, undergraduate and graduate students. My work involved learning /memory testing of children with learning disabilities due to prenatal trauma. As a professor, I taught neurophysiology, research proposal development and mentored students. My work involved learning and memory testing of with children surviving leukemia.
