Howdy! My name is Ed N. After I graduated from Texas A&M in 2007, I lived in a new culture, learning a new language for 2 years. I understand the joys and struggles of being away from my home country, and I think I learned a lot about how to do it well. I'm excited to take the skills I used to master Chinese and share them with you as you learn English.

I love languages! I also love my family - I have a wife and three young children, who we homeschool.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Corporate Training:

I learned Mandarin Chinese while living in China. In addition to studying for 4 semesters in a Chinese university, I also hired (and trained) a local tutor and daily practiced everything I was learning on the streets of our rural town. I can confidently teach you the basics of practical spoken Chinese, some intermediate topics, and/or the basics of reading and writing Chinese characters.

I provide English tutoring (English as a Second Language) in Bryan/College Station, TX, home of Texas A&M University. As we learn practical, useful English, I will help you discover your strengths, weaknesses, and goals in learning the language, so that we know what to work towards. Usually, the main skills students need to focus on are:

- Fluent conversation
- Accent reduction
- “Naturalness” in speaking
- Listening and understanding

I am privileged to have worked with people from the Middle East, Latin America, West Africa, and East Asia. Also, since I have lived in China I am especially experienced working with Chinese/Taiwanese nationals. I can speak Chinese.

About tutoring sessions: 2 hours per session is a good length for most people. Some people can go longer, and some people prefer less. The first time is always fully refundable. After our first session, if you don’t feel confident that I can help you, you pay nothing! So please don’t hesitate to contact me.

I truly enjoy tutoring people in English as a Second Language (ESL). I will work from your strengths, weaknesses, and goals to help you learn useful, practical English. With my tutoring, most international students improve the most in these areas:

- Accent reduction
- Fluent conversation
- Listening and understanding
- “Naturalness” in speaking

Because I have lived in China, I am especially experienced working with Chinese/Taiwanese nationals, and I can speak Chinese. I have also worked with people from East Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and West Africa. I really enjoy meeting people from around the world!

For most students, 2 hours is a good length for tutoring sessions. Some people prefer longer, some people prefer less. The first session is fully refundable. Please don't hesitate to contact me!
