Searching for a private language tutor in either English, Japanese or Chinese? A combination of the two or even all three? Then look no further! I've grown up abroad and have a wealth of experience about the Chinese and Japanese language. Having also spent a summer at Middlebury's summer language school program has also helped me out tremendously.

My philosophy hopefully caters to you and your family. I believe you don't need a PhD in Linguistics to go the distance in a second language. I'm here to help you through the thick and thin of these difficult Asian languages. I've been dismayed by the mediocre textbooks out there with Chinese and Japanese, and so I pull from many that merit an integrated cultural and language learning atmosphere.

I charge lower than most tutors on this site also so that money isn't an issue when we're together. Come on, send me a message and let's get started!

Having spent well over a decade of rigorous training in the Chinese language, growing up abroad in China in fact, and using it on a daily basis, I am well prepared to teach at the beginning and intermediate Chinese level. Depending on the student's level of ability, we will create a system that caters to their present understanding of the language. The underlying belief in this flexibility is to not box the student in one narrow curriculum that does not personally and academically address the student's wants and desires.

This subject is designed for ESL students working there way into mastering the English language. Close attention will be given to the student's current ability so as to not overwhelm them with elaborate lesson plans, but just enough to cater to their present needs in their second-language acquisition. Please contact me for further details.

Coming from a background in studying Chinese for several years, I have strong insight into the kanji system (Chinese characters) that beginning students should become acquainted with. Although I am not fluent in Japanese, I have studied for a couple of years and can successfully teach beginning Japanese.

* My method of instruction surrounds the Genki textbooks published by the Japanese Times, as well as a small workbook that comes with purchasing it.

This subject, similar to the reading section, concentrates on the novel as an intellectual and imaginative piece of work and art. Unlike the other section though is the emphasis on being able to pick up literary devices, understanding the writer's basic assumptions, and context from which the piece of literature finds its voice from. Focus is moreover based on the internal logic of the story or poem, and seeks to engage in the meaning that literary devices help as they shape the novel.

My philosophy is to invest time into giving children and adults alike breadth in order to obtain depth. Subjects range from works like J.R.R. Tolkien's 'The Hobbit', Isabelle Allende's 'The House of the Spirits', to Richard Matheson's 'I Am Legend'. And depending on the student's level of understanding, we will tackle literature and poetry that will be most conducive to their creative and analytical abilities. The goal is to explore and appreciate not just the world of literature, but the gift of analytical and imaginative skills made possible through the pleasure of reading.

This subject is set up where as much time that is needed is spent on a certain novel or poem that will challenge the student's way of understanding the novel environment and the world around him or her.

Having a verbose vocabulary is more than using sophisticated language to sound intellectual for your professor or manager. Useful common words in the academic setting and in real life can be found in my lessons here. And the goal is always the same: learn how to communicate effectively to get your point across as concisely and effectively as possible. Unique in this subject is how to process new words in sentences that sound more profound based on the execution of a better vocabulary.

In this subject I help my students either in essay composition or creative writing. Sometimes these two worlds intersect depending on the subject matter and nature of the assignment. My job is to show you the tricks of trade and make writing more comfortable. I offer to help beginning and novice writers perfect their craft.
