If your student can speak, your student can write.
I will show your student how to organize ideas on paper, develop a strong thesis statement, back that thesis statement up with proof, logic and examples; and end it with a powerful closing statement. But even though I am a retired lawyer, I don’t teach Students to write dense, tedious lawyer-like prose.
I can also help your child learn to love history, literature, and science - and learn excel in these subjects.
Most importantly, I have a special love for helping struggling students learn solid study skills. I was not a natural student in my early years, I struggled until I was midway through high school, but I finally taught myself how to study effectively. Since then, on every level of my education, I have tutored fellow students who needed additional help.
I can teach your student a great system I learned in law school when I had read an average of 300 pages every day with maximum comprehension.
I can also teach your student a number of neat memory tricks that will turn study time into fun time. And, these memory tricks will stay with your child for life.
I will show them a simple way to use note cards to study for big tests in record time (I used this method to pass my bar exam the first time while working a full time but – however it can also help a seventh grader study for a midterm).
But my favorite trick uses an ordinary kitchen timer and poker chips to help students learn to concentrate on their studies. It helps to break.
