I have always had a passion for history in all of its forms and eras. During the last four years I decided to change my life course and pursue my avocation, making it into my vocation. Having recently graduated from the University of Houston at Clear Lake with my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in American history, I feel confident in my abilities to communicate not only the facts of certain historical events, but also explain recent academic scholarship regarding these topics. I like to teach Socratically, interacting with students to allow them to think about historical events in new and novel ways. Writing is especially important to excellence in this discipline, and I have a good grasp of what teachers and professors look for in evaluating a students writing. My particular interests include the Cold War, Antebellum South and the period between the two world wars. In June of 2012 one of my essays, "Karankawa Anthropophogy: Savage Barbarism or Enduring Myth", will be published in South Texas Studies.
