I am a certified teacher from Vermont. I received my Bachelors Degree in Education in 2004. I am licensed to teach grades K-8 as a Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) and am licensed to teach Special Education for ages 3-21. I moved to Texas to be closer to my daughter and grandchild, therefore, making the decision to move my expertise elsewhere.
I was a special educator, in Vermont, for a small rural school in Walden. I have multiple years experience working with children that range from having minor learning disabilities to those that need a more individualized program. I have been trained and am licensed in teaching the Wilson Reading Program and in using Metacognitive Development techniques. I have also taken multiple courses that have benefited my teaching of a wide range of Autistic/Aspergers individuals. To add to my special education career, I have worked in an alternate school setting for Emotional and Behavioral Disturbed Children and Adolescents. This enabled me to receive a certificate in Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (CPI).
I started going to school when my daughter was one-year old. As a single parent, I had to work, support a family and go to school. The gratification I received from many years of college occurred when my daughter drove me to my graduation! My passion is working with children. Currently I tutor one other individual in San Leon, Tx. I am looking to tutor full time so that I can create my own schedule and benefit from the best of both worlds; work with students and be a grandparent!
