I believe hands-on teaching can work with any subject, whether it be biology, math or writing. This is my tutoring style. Thus, if you have a child who has trouble processing information in school while sitting at a desk, perhaps they are simply missing the third element of "doing!" I am a well-qualified tutor, as I graduated from Valparaiso University with a 3.8 GPA. I have taught several classes, including a hands-on biology college course, and I have spent many summers tutoring young students. As my degree and current job are both in Environmental Science and Geography, biology and geography are my science strengths. I am also very skilled in public speaking and writing, as I have given countless presentations and scored a 720/800 on the writing section of the SAT. As I stated earlier, the third element of "doing" can be added to any academic subject. For example, all aspects of biology and geography can be observed by just going outside and exploring one's surroundings. With writing, I encourage students to write about personal thoughts and debates. Through this, they are able to develop the skill of adding their own thoughts to an actual essay subject, such as one seen on the SAT or ACT. Last, with public speaking: practice makes perfect.
So, do you believe that your child is missing the "doing" element with their learning? If so, contact me and let's get started!
