Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Bar Exam

I have practiced law for 5 years in the Washington DC area. I am licensed to practice law in three jurisdictions: the District of Columbia, Oklahoma, and Texas. I sat for two bar exams, Oklahoma and Texas, and I passed both exams first try. I did not take the BARBRI preparation courses or any other bar preparation courses for the bar exams. I prepared for them on my own and did not have any problems passing either exam. I know how to prepare for bar exams in different jurisdictions and can help others to do the same.

Business

I graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management. While attending Brigham Young University, I was an Executive Team Leader at Target Corporation, and then I managed a Ben and Jerry's franchise in Provo, UT. I currently help manage the business affairs of an e-Discovery vendor in Washington, D.C.

Criminal Justice

I was president of my speech and debate team in high school, president of my debate club as an undergrad in college, and I was a member of the mock trial team while I attended law school. I have practiced law for 5 years. As an attorney, I am often in the courtroom making public appearances and speaking in high stakes situations. I have clerked for district court judges and the Supreme Court of Oklahoma. In my clerkships I assisted the judges in their criminal law matters. I bring a unique educational background and series of work experiences that should help me serve students well as a strong criminal justice tutor.

Marketing

I received my bachelor's degree in Business Management with an emphasis in marketing. I was the Vice President of the Brigham Young University Marketing Association. As a marketing major I completed classes in brand management, high tech marketing, sales management, marketing strategy, etc. As an aspect of my current job, I sell legal technology and interface with clientele everyday.

Public Speaking

I was president of my speech and debate team in high school, president of my debate club as an undergrad in college, and I was a member of the mock trial team while I attended law school. I have practiced law for 5 years. As an attorney, I am often in the courtroom making public appearances and speaking in high stakes situations. I bring a unique educational background and series of work experiences that should help me serve students well as a strong public speaking tutor.

Study Skills

I graduated from high school with a 4.0 average, graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management and Marketing, graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in the top 20th percentile of my class, graduated from the University of Arkansas School of Law with a Legal Master's Degree in Agricultural Law, and passed two bar exams on my first try (Oklahoma and Arkansas). Therefore, I feel comfortable with helping others develop strong study skills.
