Hello there, and thank you for taking a look at my profile. My name is Luann and I've been a long-time lover of the English language. Always excelling in reading, writing, and all things English, I decided to pursue a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Language & Literature from Texas State University. In my spare time I enjoy reading (I always have a book close by) or playing the bass guitar.
In 8th grade I took my first Spanish class. I instantly fell in love with the language and have been studying Spanish ever since. This has taken me to two Latin American countries where I've lived and taught English or studied Spanish. In the summer of 2009 I traveled to Monterrey, Mexico with a University-sponsored program. I lived there for one month and took Spanish courses at El Tecnológico de Monterrey. Then, in the summer of 2010, I traveled to Chile where I lived and taught English for six months under the English Opens Doors Program, sponsored by the Chilean government. I taught High school students for three months, and then moved to Middle school for three more months. This gave me lots of experience managing classrooms, planning lessons, and developing my own teaching style.
I've also volunteered as an ESL (English as a Second Language) Instructor here in Austin, TX. I've taught at Emmanuel Methodist Church, near downtown Austin. I've also taught at El Buen Samaritano, a non-profit organization with the goal of helping Austin Latino families in need lead healthy and productive lives. These have all been rewarding experiences which have furthered my passion for both languages, English and Spanish.
In summary, I would love to help you, the student, with any kinds of school assignments (papers, spelling, tests, book reports, etc.) that you may be struggling with. Or, if you just want to improve your reading/writing/spelling skills in English or Spanish, I could certainly help you do that. Either way, we will get you going in the right direction and on your way to academic success.
