English language and literature are passions of mine, and my approach to tutoring is to try to inspire the same enthusiasm in pupils. This requires conveying a sense of appreciation for storytelling and awe at the power of the written word. Engagement with texts that will interest students is key.

My tutoring strategy involves helping students realize their own way of understanding and using language. I strive to encourage learners to create their own proper ways of interpreting and expressing ideas and texts, and to feel sure of their own senses. The horizons of the language are always widening, and with them the culture, and I believe that everybody using the language can further this expanding by taking their own tack in so doing.

I was a student of English Literature and Philosophy at the University of Hull in Kingston-upon-Hull, UK, from 2006-2009, and held an International Student Scholarship from 2007-2009. I took my BA with High Honors, near the head of both departments of my joint course, and will happily provide references from my instructors upon request. I look forward eagerly and with positive excitement to hearing from you and setting up a tutoring schedule, and I wish you well until we meet.

Writing

Writing has many purposes, and what one proposes to do with the word is one determinant of proper use. The art of writing requires practice gathering thoughts and ideas, and conveying them effectively and creatively.

Highly recommended I highly recommend Justin J. as a tutor for reading and writing. In just a few sessions with our 4th grader, we have noticed an improvement in his reading and comprehension, interpreting the texts he is reading and inferring information from the text. He has also gained skill and fluency in essay writing and composition. He is more confident about his writing skills. We have noticed that he is a l ...
