All of Amy’s current tutoring subjects are listed at the left. You can read more about Amy’s qualifications in specific subjects below.

Microsoft Excel

I have used Microsoft Excel since 1997, and I have seen it go through many incarnations.

I am most well versed at Excel 2003, since I used it the longest, but am also competent at 2007, and have noticed that 2010 is very similar to 2007.
(The biggest difference is between 2003 and 2007; if you are familiar with one, everything is located in a different place on the other.)

I know all the basics, most intermediate functions, and some advanced.

I am very good at tutoring those new to Excel, as I have a lot of patience, and explain things simply.

Microsoft Word

I have used Microsoft Word since 1996.

I know all the basics, all the intermediate level functions, and most of the advanced ones.

I am most familiar with Word 2003, but have also used 2007 and 2010.

I am very good with newbies, since I have a lot of patience, and can explain things clearly.

Spanish

I began formally studying Spanish in 7th grade, and continued for many years.

I studied in Spain for a semester in college, which led to Spanish becoming my major.

I translated Spanish for 2 years on an as-needed basis, for a psychologist in TX, helping to administer IQ tests and the like.

I worked at a popular restaurant in San Antonio, where bilingual Spanish skills were very helpful.

I have taught ESL to those who speak Spanish.

I currently work in an office environment, and help serve as translator between our cleaning staff and facilities department.

I have traveled in Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Spain.

These all contribute to my Spanish speaking, reading, and writing capabilities while tutoring.

Yoga

I have participated in Bikram, Hatha, Vinyasa, Kundalini, Ashtanga, Anusara, Gentle, Restorative, Power and Yin yoga for over 8 years. I completed a 200-hour teacher training class with Yoga Yoga that gives me an RYT-200 certification through Yoga Alliance. I continue to train with nationally known instructors like David Williams, David Swenson, and others, whenever available in Austin.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
