My love of learning has been implemented by some very special tutors that I worked with throughout my academic career. I've discovered different ways to learn difficult subjects with the help of tutors, therefore this is my chance to give back! As a university senior, I plan to teach all the information I've acquired and all the different methods to approach complex subjects. My major in Biology and minor in Communications have helped me balance the socially challenging situations and strictly academic situations that one often comes across in life.

I specialize in the general sciences such as Biology, Chemistry, Psychology and Nutrition. My love of theatre and public speaking lead me to specialize in Communications, public speaking and language. The languages I speak, read and write fluently are Arabic and English.

As for my experience, I've tutored a diverse population of students in Microbiology (lab portion and lecture). I used diagrams and mnemonics explain different cycles such as meiosis and mitosis. For some students, I've helped create flash cards. Lastly and most interestingly, I helped create songs to remember different processes. The age groups I taught were 16 and older, however I am open to teach younger students on a more simplified level. My methods helped my students achieve great success and understanding, I hope to expand my horizons and reach more students through WyzAnt. I am constantly discovering new ways to learn academic material. I firmly believe that by teaching my students HOW to study, I help them realize their own potential and help them study for ALL of their courses.

I hold myself to a high standard. For that reason, I often ask for feedback as to how the student is performing. Should we find the student still struggling with a particular subject, I will introduce different study methods.

I try to be flexible on time, and I know how study deadlines before a test can be intimidating. Therefore, I offer makeup classes and a 12-hour cancellation notice.

I hold most study sessions in my university library or Public library depending on the student's comfort level. I am also happy to travel to another location if that is more convenient for the student.

I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve success in your studies!

Arabic

As a native and fluent speaker, writer and reader in the Arabic language, I feel highly qualified for the tutoring position in the subject. My educational background includes being both a student and teacher of the Arabic language throughout my life; I've learned Arabic as a young child since my mother was an Arabic teacher and I've tutored my former high school teacher Arabic a few years ago because she needed to refresh her reading skills. I also have experience with teaching Arabic because I am constantly teaching myself the language's oldest forms and roots. I use flashcards, songs as well as mnemonics to help the material sink in. Since Arabic is fairly complex to native English speakers, I plan on starting with the alphabet and teaching the students how to write simple words for each letter in the Arabic alphabet. My methods of teaching Arabic will also involve me listening to the student and pointing out grammatical, spelling and speaking rules of the language itself. Where we start depends on the previous experience of the student with the Arabic language.

Nutrition

I've been accepted into a master's program in Nutrition. I have lost 75 pounds over the past 2 years due to healthy eating and moderate exercise. I have experience with nutrition because I have Celiac Disease (gluten allergy), and I often have to explain the allergy since it is not well known among society. I will introduce the Macros of Nutrition and the basics behind sugars through biochemistry first, and then introduce the roles of sugar. My methods will include flash card usage, mnemonics, and making up songs to memorize the different aspects of food science.
