Hi, my name is Courtney. I am a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. While studying at the university I became a biology tutor. I tutored there for two years. Understanding biology has come naturally to me and since I am able to understand it so well it is almost just as easy for me to transfer that knowledge to others. Over the two years tutoring with the university I have developed the skill of taking a complex concept and simplifying it making it a lot easier for others to understand. I have become comfortable with utilizing figures from biology textbooks, analogies, metaphors, PowerPoint slides, practice exams, my own personal notes and other tools to educate students in the subject of biology. Most of the students I have tutored were in BIOL1441 which is cell and molecular biology so I am most comfortable in tutoring this type of biology. However, I was also responsible for tutoring students in BIOL1442 which is the structure and function of organisms so I am capable of tutoring this as well. I have also taken more advanced biology courses such as microbiology, ecology and evolution and human physiology and am able to tutor them as well.
Students feel comfortable with me and my style of tutoring. Out of the students I have tutored at the university, a significant amount of them become regular students with me. Others have informed me that after I tutored them their overall grade in the class began to improve or that they had made better grades on their tests. They show great appreciation for my help.
I hope to be tutoring you or your child soon so that I may assist them in understanding the subject of biology as well. Biology is something that I has always interested me. However what I enjoy more is making the subject understandable to others. I have genuine passion for tutoring and I have been told it is something that I do well. I sincerely look forward to aiding you in your academic journey toward success.
