I understand your student's desire to succeed, and I know you want your child to learn easily! I have eight years of teaching experience in public schools in Texas. Algebra 1

I love algebra! I had an amazing algebra teacher, and the material just stuck! I would like to make this subject fun and easy for you to learn!

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 is a great course--when you have the right teacher! I will help you understand algabraic concepts and help you practice skills so that you will be ready for math!

Vocabulary

Does it make your teachers mad when the gregarious students socialize? It should, unless of course, the vociferous students are using what I call "five dollar words." Whether you are studying vocabulary in math or science, or even for the SAT, I can teach you a way to master your vocabulary words. It will help you reach your goals!

Grammar

Are you having trouble with subject/verb agreement, article placement, or "so-and-so and me...or I"? I am a geek when it comes to grammar. I can help you with grammar exercises in isolation or in your writing so that you can achieve the results you want! There are rules for everything, and the English language has exceptions for all of them! I can help you improve your grammar!

Geometry

I had a wonderful geometry teacher. I made straight A's. I graduated in the top twelve individuals in my class, out of 500+ in my class. Usually you are better at either algebra or geometry. (I admit, algebra came more naturally for me). I still would like to help you excel in geometry, or at least help you earn the grade you want! If you tell me or text me what skill you are studying in advance, I will prepare extra work for you to target that specific skill.

Prealgebra

Prealgebra skills lay the foundation for math courses to come. I was fortunate to have excellent math teachers who taught me to reason and solve problems. I would like to help your student with his math so that he can make good grades and be successful in school!

Reading

I have taught numerous students how to read. I have a good grasp on teaching both phonics for the younger students and comprehension skills for the older students. Reading is essential to learning all other subjects, and I would like to help fill in those gaps for your child, so that reading becomes easy and enjoyable!

Writing

Do you dread writing? Please do not dread it, because writing is an integral part of your education. I can help you generate ideas and help you with the writing process. It will become so much more enjoyable, and your grades will reflect your new skills that have been unleashed!

Geography

Instead of taking Texas history, I took world geography. That is because my family lived in a country in Europe. We learned all of the countries' capitals. I've also traveled within Europe extensively, so I have firsthand knowledge of many countries. In addition, I've lived in a country in Asia and visited a country in East Africa. Having real life experiences, therefore, brings geography alive and makes it easy for me to teach!

English

I am a native English speaker. I have experience teaching English overseas, and eight years of experience in public schools in Texas. I have taught 2nd-8th graders, including ESL learners. I am motivated to help your child succeed!

ESL/ESOL

I have eight years teaching ESL. I have one year teaching EFL overseas. I am good at teaching idioms through conversation. I like to learn about cultures and languages, and I've travelled around the world extensively. I am the right tutor for you!

SAT Math

I have tutored SAT prep previously. Did you know there is a 1/4 point reduction for wrong answers on the actual test? That means, if you can eliminate two or more answers, you should answer the question. If you can only eliminate one answer, then it's best to leave that one blank and come back to it if you have time.

When I took the GRE, my strength was the math portion. I also have an English specialization from college.

Proofreading

Proofreading has always been a skill that has come naturally for me. I ask myself if it sounds right. Then I apply grammatical rules. My degree is in Applied Learning and Development with a specialization in English. I completed many English courses in college, and I am looking forward to helping you as well!

GED

Do you have a GED study guide? Then I can help! Are you having issues with math or anything else? I have experience teaching adults, and I would like to help you reach your goals!

SAT Reading

I can help you with your SAT verbal score! Whether you are vociferous or more taciturn, I will help you increase your vocabulary! That is an integral part of doing well and being successful on the SAT. Did you know there is a one-fourth of a point deduction for wrong answers? That is to dissuade one from guessing at random. You, however, will be able to select the correct answer and get accepted to your dream college!

Spelling

Spelling has always come naturally to me. After teaching 2nd graders to read, write, and spell, I have several strategies to use to make spelling easy and even fun for your child. These strategies are really so much more fun than looking at a list and spelling aloud. I would love to help your emergent speller become a spelling champ!

Elementary Math

I love to teach math because it is so concrete and tangible! People who do not like math just haven't had a great teacher. I had AMAZING math teachers growing up. I would like to be that tutor that makes math easy for you! I will help you understand!

Elementary Science

I enjoy teaching science because it explains how things work around us. The scientific method is fun, and students learn effectively through making observations and asking questions about the world around them. I have a strong science background, as I started my college career as a pre-pharmacy student. I enjoyed high school chemistry so much! I enjoyed developing science lesson plans and labs for my elementary students!

Elementary (K-6th)

My teaching certificate is valid for first through eighth grades. I have a combined eight years of experience teaching in public schools. I have taught 2nd, 3rd, and 7th/8th multilevel.

Phonics

We used a premiere phonics system when I taught second grade. I can teach students a variety of strategies for decoding and becoming fluent readers.

Aspergers

I have taught a child with Asperger's previously.

I taught TAKS grades for four years.
