Hello potential students and parents! I appreciate you taking the time to read my profile. I love learning and helping others reach their potential academically. Since I was in elementary school, my teachers and professors have called on me to help others in our classes, and was always in the Honors programs from elementary school to college. My belief is that each of us has the opportunity to go above and beyond the minimum requirements for any activity we pursue, and in those areas where we need more guidance, the most intelligent option is to seek that guidance and use available resources to increase our knowledge, skills, and abilities.
In addition to any liberal arts subject such as Reading, Writing, Spelling, History, or Social Studies, I can help with any basic elementary subject, including test prep, math and science. I can help you with library research, the Internet, technology, formatting, design, Power Point, Word, etc. I am familiar with Macintosh and PC if you're using a computer for your assignments.
I work with students of all ages from elementary, junior high, high school, college, to graduate school. I have recently tutored high school and college students in English, History, Political Science, Writing Skills, English conversation, test taking preparation, and social science. I have helped those I'm tutoring edit graduate research papers and doctoral theses. I have six nieces and nephews - four of them are very young and the oldest is a sophomore in college. My family includes CPAs, PhDs, lawyers, and doctors, so I am familiar with many subjects and I am comfortable with all ages of people and am happy to host you in my area or come to your area for tutoring.
I have worked in higher education to critique writing and academic backgrounds and have reviewed applications for graduate school at the masters and doctoral level. I am a graduate student at UT Arlington currently writing my masters thesis in Cultural Anthropology and I served as a teaching assistant there, grading junior level college students. My undergraduate degree from the Honors College in Interdisciplinary Studies allowed me to take courses in English, Philosophy, Fine Art, and Anthropology. Anthropology is the study of human culture throughout time, and therefore anthropologists have the opportunity to examine everything from the origins of human biology, to the development of walking, communication, language, and modern culture. Because of this broad range, we understand biology, such as the anatomical structure of modern humans, or how genes interact with the environment, and we can also analyze the microeconomics of Indonesia or the business policies of Waco, Texas. Cultural anthropologists employ philosophy, theory, writing, and are able to interpret symbolism for any subject area.
Although cultural anthropology is communicated through qualitative methods - mostly verbal forms of communication - we also use statistics to interpret data.
I hope you have had the opportunity to learn more about me and my areas of expertise. Please feel free to inquire if you have more questions or need clarification about what I have to offer. I hope you'll sign up for tutoring soon so I can help you meet your goals!
