Prealgebra

Prealgebra also incorporates fractions, decimals, conversions between them, and the standard mathematical operations. In short, everything you need to build upon the concepts for algebra. Prealgebra teaches you the meaning of simple expressions and equations. This is when most students learn to use a variable (letter) for an unknown number instead of a "?" question mark or an empty box.

Elementary Math

Elementary math is when students learn the meaning of numbers and how to use the four basic operations to manipulate them: addition, multiplication, subtraction, and division. They also learn how to apply those operations to the the ten major fractions and mixed numbers. In addition, usually by grades four and five students learn the connection between fractions, decimals and percents.
