Hello, Students and Parents!
I’m Laura, and I provide PSAT, SAT, math and English tutoring to middle school and high school students so that they’ll be prepared to achieve their academic goals.
I understand the pressure of doing well on standardized tests. In high school, I took the SAT twice without tutoring. I scored a 710 (verbal) and a 740 (math), each on a different test. I thought it was unfair that other students had taken test prep classes. Now I know that I should’ve done the same thing – then I would have done my best the first time! No matter how smart you are, SAT tutoring really can prepare you for the big day.
I attended Rice University, graduating with a B.S. in Civil Engineering (GPA 3.1). Later, I received an M.S. in Environmental Engineering from Georgia Tech (GPA 3.8) and an M.B.A. from the Bauer College of Business (University of Houston) (GPA 4.0). These studies required heavy use of foundational math and English skills, so I’ve really practiced the subjects that I tutor.
I also worked for an academic year at a tutoring company teaching K – 12 students in basic math, vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing, grammar, Pre-algebra, Algebra I and II, Geometry and SAT test prep (Math, Critical Reading and Writing sections).
I am a professional member of the National Tutoring Association. This organization requires its members to adhere to its Code of Ethics.
I enjoy encouraging and motivating youthful minds, and I believe every student has the ability to succeed. I want to help you reach your target!
