I am a K - 8 certified teacher with the bulk of my experience in kindergarten through fifth grade. My experience with 6th through 8th is in the form of tutoring or home education of one of my three children through middle school. I have over 15 years experience in the classroom, one-on-one tutoring, both face to face and online, and in home education. While I am qualified and capable to tutor all subject areas, my greatest passion is to provide students with the tools necessary to be strong readers and successful writers. I have been trained in the use of Formula Writing, which is a method of writing devised to encourage high levels of success on standardized testing.

I have 5 years of experience teaching online and access to an online classroom. A potential student only needs a computer with a microphone to benefit from "no travel" tutoring. The hourly cost is drastically reduced when students choose this option. Additionally, hour long sessions can be broken into two 30 minute time slots across days to allow sessions to be spaced closer together. This results in shorter, more high impact interventions for students with attention challenges.

I have had a recent government issued background check due to renewing my teacher certification and can provide the paperwork upon meeting with potential clients.

Drawing

During a 4 year stretch of my classroom teaching experience I taught art to fifth through eighth graders. The foundation of the program that I devised for the older students was drawing. I have done color pencil and graphite pencil drawing personally as a hobby for many years.
