I am a professional tutor with a BA in philosophy and a concentration in premed. Before tutoring on my own full time, I worked at MTSU in the department of Disabled Student Services, where I focused on several subjects and worked with students presenting a wide range of needs. I now teach high school chemistry and physics, apart form tutoring. I have experience tutoring college-level coursework and K-12--I really enjoy the chance to work with students of all age groups and academic backgrounds.
Most folks contact a tutor--surprise--wanting to work on math, and I am able to help with topics ranging from pre-algebra to calculus, but I have also worked with students in areas like English grammar, astronomy, and inorganic chemistry. I have experience giving private music instruction in piano and guitar.
I have a lot of academic interests and have learned that tackling new material can be intimidating. In my own way, I've learned to make this process exciting, and I try to pass that enthusiasm along to the student while working to unravel the course content. Wherever possible, I make it my goal to "disarm" the subject in a way that allows the material to become more approachable--and could we say, even, fun?
