As a tutor with more than 20 years of experience, I'm ready to meet your needs by building on what you know. I understand that learning styles come in many varieties, and it's important to provide information in a way that you take in information. I thrive on seeing the light bulb go on in students' minds, and I thoroughly enjoy motivation through encouragement.

I have a B.S. degree in music education from the University of Tennessee and have taught private music lessons for 20+ years. With 15 years of experience as a freelance writer, editor and proofreader, I'm also qualified to teach writing, spelling, grammar, proofreading and vocabulary. I've taught World Literature, Writing and Art for three years at a tutorial academy and have studied privately with an accomplished drawing and painting teacher. As a community volunteer and paid contractor, I have experience in public speaking, graphic design and art curating with the Tennessee Writers Alliance, The Artist's Way and the City Hall Art Committee.

Reading

As a former Remedial Reading teacher, I studied and taught phonetic reading skills. In combination with sightreading techniques, this makes an excellent approach to improving reading ability. Taking each student where he or she is, I build upon what is known to reach goals we set together.

How do I receive a discount?

Save between 5 and 15% on tutoring by purchasing credit with one of our prepaid discount packages. You can buy one of our standard 5, 10 or 15% packages or customize your own package based on how much tutoring you need. The credit you purchase can be used towards any tutor at any time and does not expire. If you do not use the entire package, we will simply deduct what you did spend on tutoring from your original purchase price and give you a refund. Discount packages start as low as $190.
