Hello there! I am an experienced tutor, specializing primarily in undergraduate and graduate level finance, accounting and other business courses. I also have experience tutoring elementary and middle school math and reading. I currently volunteer 2-3 hours per week for Literacy Mid South tutoring 6th grade math at the Memphis Academy of Health Sciences (MAHS) in north Memphis.
I hold a CPA license with six years of public accounting experience. On the CPA Exam, I scored above a 90 on all four sections, with a combined score that was the 4th highest in the state of Tennessee in 2006. I currently work in corporate finance for a Fortune 500 corporation in Memphis, TN.
As for my education background, I graduated from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill with a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in 2010. My undergraduate degree is from the University of Tennessee where I earned two Bachelors of Science in Business Administration degrees, one in Finance and one in Accounting.
I also have 15 years of experience with Microsoft Excel and frequently tutor students in Excel at all levels--from basic Excel skills such as common formulas and formatting, up to advanced Excel functions including macros, VLookups and pivot tables. I have certification for completing a 50-hour advanced Excel class taught at UNC by Training the Street--the standard Excel training program for investment banking employees. Additional Excel topics that I teach are oriented to those who have or hope to begin a career in finance include: financial modeling, corporate valuation (DCF, comparables, etc.), financial statement preparation and Excel best practices (e.g., keyboard shortcuts).
I am also available to tutor students preparing to take the GMAT exam. I took the exam in 2008 and scored a 730, which is in the 97th percentile.
