Hello! My name is Tiffany and I absolutely love working with students!

I am an experienced private tutor who has worked with students ranging from the pre-school level through the collegiate level. I have previously taught college-level English composition courses at University of Alabama, formally tutored college, high school, and middle school students one to one, and have worked as a tutor for a learning services company that specializes in teaching new reading and reading comprehension learning processes to five- to eighteen-year-old students with learning disabilities.

I graduated with high distinction in the discipline of English from Duke University, and possess a master's degree in English literature from University of Alabama as well as a juris doctorate from University of Alabama School of Law.

As you can see, I have a passion for learning and strive to motivate any student I work with to develop a similar passion! I am a personable, dedicated, and fun-loving teacher that finds great joy in helping students learn things that will help them, not only in the classroom, but life as well!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

English

I have a master's in English literature and a juris doctorate.

I have been involved in teaching and tutoring since 2006, when I worked for Lindamood-Bell, a learning services company that focuses on teaching new learning methods to students with learning disabilities. During my time in graduate school, I tutored college students at The Writing Center at the University of Alabama and worked as a teaching assistant for American Literature courses. After earning my master's in English Literature with a concentration in Renaissance Studies, I taught English Composition at the University of Alabama.

Phonics

I have previously tutored for a learning services company that specializes in teaching new learning methods to students with learning disabilities. One of the specific programs was in phonics. We used note cards with pictures to teach young students how to master phonics, which is a method I would similarly employ with any young student I taught through WyzAnt.

Reading

I have been teaching and tutoring students of various levels and abilities since 2006. I possess a master's degree in English Literature as well as a juris doctorate. Although my primary occupation is as an attorney, I greatly enjoy tutoring students and motivating them toward academic success.

I have previously taught through institutions and companies such as the University of Alabama, Frog Tutoring, WyzAnt Tutoring, and Lindamood Bell Learning Processes. Lindamood Bell is a company that focuses on teaching new learning methods to students with learning disabilities such as ADHD, Aspergers syndrome, and autism. Lindamood Bell focuses teaching areas on literacy and math. While with Lindamood Bell, I specifically worked with five to ten year olds on improving their reading and phonics skills.
