Hi, my name is Patricia and in May 2013 I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Union University. I majored in History with a minor in French and maintained a 4.0 GPA, receiving many awards including Who's Who Among Colleges and Universities, the President's List, and the 2013 Phi Alpha Theta Lynn W. Turner Award for the best undergraduate history paper in the nation. My interests are varied and I have experience tutoring many students at the middle school, high school, and college level. Having been homeschooled through high school, I understand the importance of having that one-on-one interaction. I have received a broad education and offer a variety of subjects. Music is another strong point with me; I have been playing the flute for about 11 years and I also play the Irish flute, pennywhistle, and various recorders.
I endeavor to instill in my students a lifelong love of learning and establish relationships with them so that I am able to personalize learning in an effective way. I create an atmosphere that encourages learning and passionately teach my students in a way that is sensitive to individual needs.
Feel free to contact me and I look forward to helping you with your studies!
I have been playing the flute for around eleven years and have had experience playing in many musical groups including The Tennessee Celts, the Birdsong Harp Ensemble, Jackson Area Community Band, a homeschool band and a homeschool honors band. I also play for weddings, festivals, church, and various events. I took private lessons for many years under multiple accomplished flutists. I offer private lessons for the classical flute as well as folk music lessons. I have been playing Celtic music for many years and play the Irish flute and pennywhistle. In addition, I also offer recorder lessons which I recommend for young children.
Knitting and embroidery have been some of my favorite hobbies since I was a very little girl. I am an experienced knitter and can teach basic knitting as well as more complicated techniques such as lace, cables, and knitting in the round. I even have experience designing my own patterns. I have learned a variety of embroidery stitches and would love to get students started on these techniques.
