My name is Swanson and I have been involved in education for the last 18 years. I have privately tutored chemistry and math students on an off during this time. I currently teach chemistry and physical science online through a community. I have been doing this for the past 5 years. Many of my students have gone on to pursue professional degrees in the area of science and math at their universities. My greatest joy is to see students excel in Science and Math. My tutoring method involves repetition. The more you see or write something the better you will become at performing it. I provide a through breakdown of problems and scientific subjects. I look forward to teaching potential students the subjects I am very passionate about.
Here are the Algebra I subjects I am familiar with:
Expressions, Positive and Negative Numbers, Solving Equations and Inequalities, Relations and Functions, Linear Equations, Polynomials, Factoring, Systems of Equations, Data Analysis, Word Problems, Percentages and Square Roots
Here are some of the areas I am proficient in: linear equations, matricies and determinants, quadratic equations, powers, roots, radicals, exponential and logarithmic functions, polynomials, rational functions, beginning sequences and series, trigonometric ratios and functions, trigonometric graphs, and probability.
My chemistry qualifications include the following areas: stoichiometry, atomic theory, atomic structure, periodic table, chemical bonding, chemical energy, chemical kinetics, equilibrium, acid and bases chemistry, oxidation and eduction chemistry, measurement and data processing, and an introduction to organic chemistry. I have a Master's Degree in chemistry and I have tutored in the subject for the last 8 years.
Here are the areas I am proficient in: number sense, fractions, operations, money, patterns, algebra, geometry, positions, using shapes spatial sense, time, length, weight, capacity, temperature, graphing, using data, and probability.
I am qualified to tutor Organic Chemistry due my education level and experience teaching for the past 8 years. I have a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Chemistry. Also,I have worked in the pharmaceutical industry for the past 15 years where I have been putting the principles I learned in Organic Chemistry to use in a chemical laboratory. As a graduate student, I was charged with teaching General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry lab. Finally, the summer student I began tutoring in this subject is attending Mississippi State University in Starkville, MS and performing well in this class.
My chemistry qualifications include the following areas: stoichiometry, atomic theory, atomic structure, periodic table, chemical bonding, chemical energy, chemical kinetics, equilibrium, acid and bases chemistry, oxidation and reduction chemistry, measurement and data processing, and an introduction to organic chemistry. For math in order to do the level of chemistry described above requires knowledge up to Calculus II. I have a Master's Degree in chemistry and I have tutored in the subject for the last 8 years.
Here are some the subjects that I will be able to help with: word problems, one and two step equations, multi-step equations and inequalities, factors, fractions and exponents, rational numbers, ratios and proportions, percents, linear functions and graphing, geometry, real numbers and right triangles, perimeter area and volume, probability and data analysis, and polynomials and non-linear functions
I have been playing trumpet for the past 20 years. Currently, I am a member of 3 orchestras in the Memphis area and Gospel band. I have numerous performances involving various types of music from classical to funk and gospel in between. Over the past 5 years, I have taught small children as well as adults in my spare time between teaching chemistry and working in the pharmaceutical industry. I am very patient with each student and I believe that practice is the key to becoming proficient on the instrument. My desire as a trumpet tutor is to see each student become the best player they can possibly be. I will take each student from mouthpiece buzzing to scales and finally chord structure and song playing. As far as my passions goes, science and trumpet playing hold a high regard in my life.
