I'm a PhD student in history and I'm currently finishing up my dissertation, with a planned graduation date in Fall 2013. I have been a graduate instructor at the University of Memphis for the past five years and have taught and developed a variety of courses in American, World, and European history. I am an experienced writer and can also help students in developing their writing and reading skills. I can be especially helpful to those students who plan on attending college as I intrinsically know what skills (writing, note-taking, studying, etc.) that they will need to survive that crucial first year of college.
I hope that you will consider me as a potential tutor. I have a very flexible schedule and can travel across the Memphis metropolitan area for tutoring sessions. I am an extremely out-going, friendly person who has experience teaching a variety of diverse students. I do not have a single "style" of tutoring- I believe that each student is unique and responds differently to learning new things. When I teach, I do not rely solely on lectures, but use a variety of methods (group work, media, one on one sessions) to reach as many students as possible. Therefore, I will not expect you or your student to adapt to my teaching style, but rather I will adapt myself according to your learning needs.
I hope to be meeting and working with you soon!
