With a rich sports background, I understand the value of competing and training towards a specific goal. The same mentality needed to train your mind towards a task of learning parts of a subject. I believe with my passion for self fulfillment and for training, I can be a valuable asset to your student's development in academics. Tutoring is the key to enlightenment for some students. Some students require a bit more than a classroom provides, and tutoring offers a small, one on one setting to explore the realm of misunderstandings and tough subjects. I believe tutoring can be the short-term panacea for students who experience lulls in concentration during class time and need the extra time to recap and gain study help outside of class. Let me be that study help. To lighten the tension of meeting a potential student I will generally come off as a hair goofy and weird, because I like math and numbers, yet am athletic and younger than most tutors. I gain trust by presenting myself as a friendly peer rather than a know-it-all superior. Let's face it, there might be things I do not know and will have to take time to research, so why would I attempt to be presumptuous that I am all-knowing.
More specifically, I have played baseball since I was 5 years old, including 4 years in high school and 1 in college. I am comfortable working with athletes to improve fundamental skills, overall fitness training, and improving speed times that will be used for recruiting. Also, I grew up in a tennis and golfing family. My father taught me to play both sports and I played tennis throughout high school as much as my baseball schedule would allow. I have worked for two tennis clubs and have taught numerous children camps, adult lessons, and league team practices. Lastly, fitness has been a part of my life since middle school, and overall health can be achieved through a long term goal and short term, accomplishable exercises and diets. I can work with children and adults of all ages to create a long term health plan and short term exercises and diets.
Also, I have taken numerous college classes that qualify me to tutor in various subjects. I have taken both Macro and Microeconomics and enjoyed both classes. Other classes include Statistics, Calc I and II, Language Arts I and II, Portfolio Management, International Finance, Cost Accounting, and Business Analysis. I received my Bachelors in Finance from Georgia State University in 2008.
In short, I am a kindhearted teacher, looking to empower a student to take hold of their struggles in education and rise above any task in front of them. I will do this by coming alongside a student and walk him/her through common thought patterns to help learn skills in steps which can be repeated successfully by the student in the future.
I look forward to working with your student to accomplish academic goals and to instill self-esteem.
Andy
