Parents and Students,
My name is Kimberly. I am a 2008 USC graduate with a bachelor’s degree in History, focusing on U.S. Political and Eastern European History, supplemented by a minor in Cultural Anthropology. I hold a Liberal Arts degree as well.
Not every student is capable of learning from a standardized teaching method; therefore, instruction beyond traditional classroom methods is detrimental to success for students who are experiencing difficulty with a particular subject matter or concept.
Generally, lack of subject matter fluency is attributable to a fundamental misunderstanding or primary adverse instruction method of a particular subject. In this case, a reintroduction of subject basics will usually expose a conceptual misinterpretation hindering further progress of a subject or concept.
In short, most students are not taught "how to learn," rather instructed to memorize and recite; a typically unsuccessful strategy, especially for cognitively challenged or visual learners.
Therefore my approach is to identify the particular structural weakness and incorporate basic Fundamental Deductive Logic into subject reintroduction to ensure a thorough understanding of subject context, resulting in accurate self-reasoning by process. This is the core aspect of a successful student and applicable to any subject matter.
I offer tutoring in the following subjects: History, Social Sciences, Introductory Logic, English, Grammar, Writing, Reading Comprehension and General K-5 subjects. I am available Monday through Friday at any time and at special requests after 4:00 p.m. on weekends.
I look forward to assisting you!
