I've been teaching 33 years and am in the process of retiring. However, I already miss the kids. I have taught everything from first grade through eighth grade. I'm also double certified for Special Education. I've taught in the resource setting and in the co-teaching setting. It is my belief that every child can learn and enjoy learning. It's my job to find the path to make that happen. I've been nominated for teacher of the year twice in my career. I'm a teacher support specialist and I also teach SMART Board to teachers and students. I particularly think it's a great tool for students who have special needs.I'm patient, thorough, honest, open, and knowledgeable. I've written a book posted on line for first year teachers to help them prepare and understand all the things they can't get in a college class. Remembering that students are people that have things going on in their lives all the time, is highly important when looking at their learning strengths, weaknesses, and needs.
My best strength for academic instruction is Math in Elementary and Study Skills and Test Taking Skills.
