I specialize in teaching the learning impaired. I am firm and patient. I also endeavor to make tutoring time enjoyable for the child.
Most of my work is done using the Wilson Multi-Sensory Curriculum.
I have worked successfully with the willful child, those with lower IQ scores, the gifted child, the passive child, and the distracted child. I have helped several children with severe hearing and sight problems. Most of my students have a diagnosed learning disability (ADD or ADHD). However, I also work with students who are just going through a rough patch in either the language arts or math.
Persistence, kindness, and an ability to spot problems and address them effectively helps students achieve academically.
Parents have been pleased and sometimes surprised to note dramatic, immediate, steady, and lasting academic improvement. References are readily available.
My wife and I have home schooled our children for twenty years. I have been professionally tutoring for over ten years. I have also served as a Christian school principal, camp director, and as an inner city pastor for many years. I tutor in the public library as a rule. Other arrangements are possible.
