I have been enjoying being a tutor for Reading and Math on the preK to third grade level here in the upstate. I can work with students in the fourth or fifth grade too. Sometimes I go to the library to get reading material to meet the needs of the students and often plan ahead for lessons to meet the students' levels or needs. I can supplement what reading material they have to read for class with slightly easier reading material if they appear to be struggling with their required reading material. I do library searches and internet searches for topic-related reading material if I think that will help them.

Before starting my tutoring job with the WyzAnt, I taught about 6 years in the Language Arts areas as a Speech Teacher, and I had tutored at two previous school districts. I was a Bright Futures Tutor at Marion School District in SC,and I helped with an after school program as a certified tutor of Burke County in NC. I helped students learn phonics and reading with Bright Futures Tutoring and helped students work on computer programmed individualized lesson studies with the other school district.

In teaching, I helped students improve their articulation skills, language skills, vocabulary, grammar, and various other types of Speech skills, such as fluency or voice use during reading aloud, answering and asking questions, or giving class presentations. I helped students learn to speak so that they could improve their communication and reading skills.

I taught in the special education setting as a Speech-Language Teacher and taught in the regular classroom as a first grade teacher and a fourth grade teacher. I taught Speech-Language skills to students of all ages, preK through 12th grade. My greatest strength is that I am certified in teaching SPEECH, ELEMENTARY EDUCATION, and EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION and have experiences with teaching in these areas. I have also taught some adults to learn to read better in a volunteer situation for the Literacy council in one of my previous district locations. I have done work in the upstate of SC as a Speech Teacher for 5 years.
