I am currently a Master's candidate at the Arnold School of Public Health pursuing a degree in Health Services Policy and Management. In May 2013, I graduated from Emory University with a B.S. in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology. I have over six years of experience tutoring individuals through the Kumon program in both Mathematics and Reading. I had the opportunity to assist students ranging from 4-16 years old with reading skills starting from letter sounds all the way to high school level literary texts. The program also allowed me to utilize my expertise in mathematics to assist children 3-17 years old with math skills ranging from counting to calculus.
During my undergraduate career at Emory I became a Howard Hughes scholar where I served as a mentor and academic instructor. I was able to extend my tutoring skills to subjects pertaining to the sciences such as chemistry and biology. As my passion for tutoring increased, three years ago, I decided to include SAT and ACT tutoring into my repertoire.
My favorite part about tutoring is having the opportunity to watch a student bloom and gain confidence in his/her own capabilities. A simple phenomenon like this is what amazes me and motivates me to continue tutoring. For every student I design a personal lesson which focuses on instilling the skills and necessary measures to go beyond the expected.
