To all Potential Students

Hello! I am Veronica, a college senior with a deep love for reading and teaching others to love reading. I am very good at listening to problem areas and determining what needs to be focused on most. I love working with any age students and enjoy seeing others succeed. I have been a writing coach at my college for a year now and it has been a great experience for me as a potential teacher. It is a step in the right direction that I never knew I needed to take. I have also been in many schools helping teachers with students and teaching the tricks of the trade.

I would love to have the opportunity to help you with your assignments and any questions you might have about English or testing. I have taken the SAT, and The Praxis 1. I am working on taking the Praxis 2 so I may have a couple helpful hints that could be useful. If you need anything, I am more than willing to try to help in any way I can! I would love to meet and help every student that is struggling with English and turn them into major lovers of the language.

Grammar

My grammar has always been a place of struggle for me up until college. I took a basic grammar class and learned a great deal. I am on track to take a Modern Grammar class this coming semester and hope to learn even more about the subject. I love to work with others on their grammar. I have experience in mapping sentences and their structure and have many useful tools from my days in those classes. I would love to help your student with their grammar if given the opportunity.

Reading

I have been an avid reader since I was a young girl. I have read in a variety of subjects and am very good at helping students to understand words and phrases they have not heard before. I am very good with children as young as 2 (I babysat twins [2 1/2] and helped them with their letters every weekend). I enjoy helping kids of all ages and can do my best with whatever is thrown my way, book wise.

English

English has always been my strong point. I passed my college English courses with 3.9 and 3.8 on a 4.0 scale. I have had many opportunities to help others with their English skills and even their writing skills. I enjoy being taught English and learning the best ways to help students. I have prepared many lessons to teach the basics of English.

Literature

I have taken two British Literature courses and an American literature course. I have passed all of them and in the process read a great deal of wonderful literature. I enjoy learning all that I can about a piece of work before and after reading it. I am familiar with some of the most famous works of literature such as; The Great Gatsby, To Kill a Mockingbird, 1984, Brave New World and am currently reading The Iliad by Homer. Proofreading

I am currently a writing coach for my college which involves a lot of proofreading. I have been a writing coach for a year and have helped as many as 40 students with their papers in that time. I enjoy looking over any kind of document and would take the time to learn all about the subject just for the job of proofreading a paper.

ACT Reading

ACT Reading is one of my favorite subjects. I enjoy teaching students to read and love when they can show what they have learned on standardized tests. Reading was always my favorite topic in school and enjoyed when we had a DEAR day (Drop Everything And Read). Elementary (K-6th)

I have had the distinct honor of being able to teach elementary students in Sunday school classes in the past. I am familiar with the teaching of the ABC's and effective ways to make that a successful experience. I have many tools on hand for teaching young ones and keeping their attention when it seems difficult. I also have a deep passion for teaching that comes with the children I am able to help.

Swimming

In grade 8 and 9 I took a swimming class after school and learned all of the strokes that are of utmost importance to the sport of swimming. I am nowhere near a pro but I am certified in First Aid and spent three summers at a camp helping to teach others to swim.

Bible Studies

I enjoy reading my Bible daily and returning to the classic Bible stories I have come to know and love. I have also taken an Old Testament and a New Testament class at the college level.

Praxis

I have a lot of experience with this test. I have helped a few fellow college students with passing the Praxis. I have also successfully completed the Praxis 1 test and I am qualified to offer assistance in all aspects. I have access to study materials and practice tests available at no cost to the student. You can buy one of our standard 5, 10 or 15% packages or customize your own package based on how much tutoring you need. The credit you purchase can be used towards any tutor at any time and does not expire. If you do not use the entire package, we will simply deduct what you did spend on tutoring from your original purchase price and give you a refund. Discount packages start as low as $190.
