I was a teacher in the Peace Corps for 2 years in Africa. I taught 6th and 7th grade Math and Physical Education in French there and I really enjoyed it. While there, I also held after-school tutoring sessions for anyone who needed help.
For the 3 years or so since my return to the U.S., I've been tutoring many students in my free time in math, study skills, SAT math, ACT math, French, GRE, and basic college algebra.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Business Administration from Clemson University.
I am currently enrolled in a Master's program in Counseling at Clemson University.
I have a fairly easy-going teaching style. I want the tutoring experience to be an enjoyable one, but my main goal is to make sure that the student learns the information required of them and understands it well. It's not enough for me to just have them be able to recite what they learned without understanding it.
I am also able to be creative and explain things many ways until a student understands it and I'm a very patient person. I enjoy working with students and I'll joke around with them some to make learning fun while also making sure the student gets their money's worth out of my time.
I've worked with several students, including ones with learning disorders, and it has always been a successful and enjoyable experience for everyone. The test grades of my students always increase, sometimes quite dramatically.
If you'd like to know more about me or are interested in being tutored by me, please send me a message! I'd love to talk to you!
