I am well-qualified to tutor students in a variety of subjects, and to help students ready themselves for college or university applications. While my specialties are in science and math instruction, the brief biography listed in the in the second paragraph indicates why I am also qualified for writing, English, reading, history and social studies tutoring and instruction as well. I have a B.A. in Interpersonal Communications, specializing in marketing and public relations, and worked in these fields for nine years for small to medium sized firms and as an independent contractor. Concurrently, I served as a Medical Service Corps officer in the US Army and Army National Guard, leaving service in 2007. In 2001, I completed a B.S. in Animal Science (reproductive biology and management) at the University of Illinois, and finished my M.S. in Marine Affairs and Policy/Marine Biology at the graduate marine science campus of the University of Miami. I am in the process of completing my Ph.D. in Biological Sciences at Florida Atlantic University and have recently moved for family concerns to Anderson, SC. I have eight years of experience teaching university students in major and non-majors science courses and labs. I taught middle school math and science for one year, have two years of test prep. and tutoring experience with private and contract firms, and extensive mentoring relationships with high school, university and graduate students.
While I specialize in the life sciences, my prior careers and experiences have allowed me to develop excellent software skills. I am also well-qualified to tutor in English and language arts, history and political science.
