I am certified to teach in South Carolina. My degree is from Winthrop University, and I have a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from McDaniel College in Maryland. I received my Master's degree while living in Maryland when my husband was stationed in DC with the USMC, but I am a South Carolina native. I have taught in both public and private schools; plus I have homeschooled my own children. I also have experience in private tutoring. I've tutored elementary through high school students - in addition, I've tutored a college student who was working on her research paper. I have tutored students in elementary, middle, and high school math, including geometry and algebra. I've also worked with students on high school English (focusing on SAT vocabulary words, research papers, and literary classics) and U.S. History. I enjoy working with students of all ages and have an excellent success record. For example, I helped a 10th grade student who came to me with an average in math of 39 this past February. After working together for 4 months, his 4th quarter average was 97. He and his parents were very proud - as was I!
I have also worked with my own 5 children in all subject areas. My oldest daughter just completed her first year of college at Winthrop - where she was named student of the year - and my oldest son is leaving for college his fall, where he will be majoring in Aerospace Engineering with a 4-year academic scholarship.
My promise to you is that I will use every moment with your child to work toward success in any academic area needed. I will also be in touch with his or her teachers (at your request) to become familiar with the curriculum of each class. I will keep parents informed of our progress and will work with you for success for your child.
