Digis and Martians

Good evening all.

After I lay out some background information, I want to get weirder than usual tonight.

I know, right?

So, Dyana works in a call center for Cox Communications. I’m proud of her, and glad that she’s thriving with such a competitive company. I’m not going to tell her story, because I don’t know it well enough. Perhaps she will tell it on her own blog.

I worked at Cox too, but as an e-recycler/refurbisher/assembler, paid piecework (by productivity rather than by the hour), and on a temporary basis through Goodwill Industries of Rhode Island.

When I was unable to get hired...

To Sleep, Perchance to Dream

Howdy, Friends,

I hope you’re getting enough REM sleep. At the same time, though, dreaming can be downright dangerous; this is especially true if the dream in question is a fever dream, or if someone wakes up just enough to run while la-la-land-crazy.

That’s the topic of discussion tonight.

When Dyana was still constantly suffering from not having enough blood, which eventually gave her pneumonia, she got a fever. She felt very cold and then too hot. She went to be with her mom (she’s sometimes better at taking care of Dy) and fell asleep.

A little while later, she started dreaming, and...

Loser of the Rings

Aloha Readers,

It’s finally time to tell you; I’ve thought twice that I lost my wedding ring.

The first time was when I first got it. I was trying to prove it was small enough to fit my finger (my fingers and wrists are thin; probably carpal tunnel syndrome waiting to happen).

“Look,” I said, shaking my hand, “It won’t come off!”

And on the third shake, it flew under some sort of cabinet.

It happened too fast to keep track of where the ring flew, so we searched and searched. We thought little Tika, the smaller of the chihuahuas, had eaten it.

Finally we found it. I swore never to test the...

The Wavelength

Howdy fellow living people,

Today I want to talk about how some people’s minds are often on the same wavelength.

Each of us has at least one person with whom we have an unexplainable connection. It is not only emotional; it is in our thoughts.

In Dyana’s case, that bond is with her mother.

One of them will make an observation in their thoughts, and the other will speak it aloud. Or they will each find a different example of the same item in a store, and seek each other out to talk about it.

The only time their link breaks: when one or both of them is angry, in which case their minds close.

...veryone...

Calling With a Bone to Pick in Another World

I’m going to tell you a story of Dyana’s this time.

“Am I dead??” Dy had thought someone was drowning her in a bathtub. It might be considered funny to someone not experiencing the dream, but she was scared and gravely serious. I was not laughing, and didn’t until it was long over.

She’d picked up her iphone, her physical iphone, while dreaming.

She didn’t try to make a phone call to get help. No; if she ever dies, she will be using her ghost-phone for vengeance.  She called her murderer to give him a piece of her mind.

The real iphone, however, did not work to make a dreamworld call...

Miami, Florida

Pre-emptive Happy Fourth of July, Everyone.

Recently I went to Miami, Florida with Dyana and ‘Mombern’, my mother-in-law. It was awesome.

The main purpose of the trip was to be there for Dyana’s goddaughter’s baptism, and it went well. Her cousin is the mother, and the church was packed.

I met many, many members of this new part of my family, including a lot of kids and babies. I practiced speaking Spanish more often than usual and ate a lot of good food.

“No Joda, Yoyi! Yo cocino un burro picante! Cuah-cuah-cuah-cuah!"

Turkey?

Good morning Friends,

This is going to be brief but good.

Dyana and I like to be playful, as many couples do, and some time ago I came up with a new game move.

I put my face in her armpit and went “WOO-WOO-WOO-WOO-WOO!”

Someone could probably list a number of psychological reasons for this. I blow raspberries at that someone. But I’m veering away from the real story here.

The day after this invention, or the day after that, we were riding in the car with Olga, my mother-in-law (“mombern”), and she was doing animal impressions.

She made the sound of a turkey and I recognized it as the sound...

Magical Facebook Dalmatian

Did you all see that photo posted on Facebook, with the tiny black chihuahua next to the big dalmatian?

The text on the photo says “one of my spots came off!”

So I’ve decided to write a story. Completely true.

Before I met Dyana and her mother, they had a Dalmatian. It had mysteriously appeared in a church overnight, and they found it alone and hungry.

They took it home and fed it.

As soon as it swallowed some food, one of its spots dropped off.

“Ok,” they said to each other, “that’s strange.”

Then the spot started to move.

It grew and twisted and unfolded, until a baby chihuahua stood there...

Getting sucked in

Recently I have been thinking a lot about the sophisticated way that gaming has been connected to the Internet.

First, I will talk about the relatively nice part.

Not only are gaming and internet now nearly inseparable, but before we could blink, companies started making money from the connectivity itself. More cost for the ability to play with people we may only see once in a great while, or even people we never met at all.

What is not so clearly beneficial is that once one spends money on game and internet, the game itself involves spending virtual money. This is not bad except that we...

Volunteering

Hey Everyone,

Tutoring is for students right? Plus, more experience never hurts for newbies like me. Might as well volunteer.
