I'm an experienced teacher who loves helping students achieve their educational goals. I have a B.A. (History; Math), two M.A.'s (European History; History of Science, Medicine, & Technology), and a wide range of teaching: taught many different college history courses; high school math; junior high math and science; ESL in Taiwan; chess. Also have good standardized test scores (e.g., GRE 790V, 780M, 720A; "competitive" score on the NSA's Professional Qualifications Test) and several years teaching SAT, GRE, and GMAT for a national test prep company. I think learning should be fun as well as productive. A sense of humor is an asset in any endeavor, including education.
I have had success preparing students for the ASVAB, and I especially enjoy helping them tackle the word problems on the Arithmetic Reasoning section. Time management is important, and test-taking strategies are key.

My math major and experience teaching math (high school, middle school, college; test-prep) are two factors that makes me qualified to tutor Praxis I Math. Even more importantly, I did well on the more comprehensive MTEL test for high school math. The MTEL tests all the topics Praxis I Math does, as well a few other topics (e.g., Calculus). I did well on all the subareas, including the open response, where I received the highest score, “Thorough.” (The open response section involves answering two multipart problems. The section score evaluates quality of explanation in addition to correctness.) Because of my results on the MTEL, I obtained certification to teach Math, 8-12 in public schools in Massachusetts.
