Dear parents and students:

My name is William. I am passionate about tutoring students, particularly in math. I enjoy working with students at all different levels including Middle School, Prealgebra, Algebra, Geometry, Precalculus and Calculus. I also provide tutoring in SAT Prep, ACT Prep, and PSAT Prep.

I am a student in the Mathematics for Teaching Program at Harvard University. I have completed 12 courses towards my master's degree and have one course remaining before I graduate.

Over the past few years, I have tutored a number of students in different settings. My teaching experiences have allowed me to work with students from a variety of backgrounds. While living in the Boston area, I worked with a group of students who were very diverse in terms of their mathematic abilities. In my tutoring group, half of the students had failed their math class during the prior school year. Throughout the semester, I worked intensively to improve these students’ math skills through computer assisted instruction, worksheets and explicit word problems.

Because I consider myself a lifelong learner, I was constantly reflecting on my work with my students. I was consistently collecting data, reviewing their progress and finding ways to help them succeed at mathematics. By the end of my tutoring, my students had an increased desire to succeed because they understood that mathematics can be fun and that is possible to be successful if you work hard and try your best.

I would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you regarding the tutoring needs that you have for your child. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
William
