My qualifications for teaching, particularly the MCAT exam, span many parts of my educational and professional experience.
I graduated magna cum laude from Brown University with a 4.0 GPA, and received several honors and awards including election to Phi Beta Kappa as a 3rd year, election to Sigma Xi, and the Joslin Award for excellence and contribution to Brown. I was a Gates Cambridge Finalist and was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship. Next year, I will pursue a MPhil in development studies at Cambridge University in the UK.
I also excelled in my test-taking with a score of 41S (99.8-99.9 percentile) - Bio: 14, Physical: 15, Reading: 12, Writing S - on the MCAT exam. In high school, I scored a 2320 on the SAT and received a 5 on AP Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Biology, Chemistry, Calculus BC, US History, and World History.
I was previously offered a position by Kaplan as an MCAT instructor and am currently a tutor at Signet Education. I have 7+ years teaching experience, including serving as an Organic Chemistry Teaching Assistant at Brown University. I have loved teaching ever since I was young—from explaining difficult concepts to friends to working as a private tutor.
A couple success stories: I provided one-on-one tutoring to a student struggling with organic chemistry. Seeing her confidence and competence increase over the semester (she went from a C in the first exam to an A on the final) made me downright joyful.
Another student of mine, improved her MCAT practice scores from an 18 to a 26-32 range within our 6 weeks of tutoring.
I hope to be able to bring my enthusiasm for teaching to help students with the MCAT and other subjects.
Other tests/subjects of specialty include: SATs, APs, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Math, Neuroscience, Physics, and more!
I am available for Online Tutoring.
