I'm currently employed as a visiting assistant professor of creative writing, and I love helping others to improve their abilities for self-expression. Whether you hope to improve your academic essays (including college application and transfer essays), your command of English grammar, your public speaking, your memoirs, short stories, and poems, or your reading comprehension skills, I can offer guidance and constructive response to your efforts.
I've earned advanced degrees in English (an MA and an MFA), and I am both a writer and an experienced writing instructor. I have taught at Suffolk University (Boston), Rhode Island College (Providence), Hampshire College (Amherst, MA), Mansfield University (PA), Indiana University (Bloomington, IN), New Mexico State University, and Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana.
I have also taught and tutored EFL students at the college and pre-college levels, advised students on independent interdisciplinary projects, and worked with senior citizens in community arts centers. In addition to my work with adult learners, I have taught as a writer in the public schools of Las Cruces, NM (grades 4-6), and I have worked as a grant writer for a nonprofit arts center.
My creative writing can be found in a number of journals (most recently the Massachusetts Review). In 2009, I received an Emerging Artist Award from the St. Botolph Club Foundation (Boston, MA). I am happy to work with students and writers of all ages.
