I have been teaching English as a Second Language and Basic Spanish for over 15 years, mostly while living in Mallorca, Spain. I worked in language academies and one-on-one, giving private classes to young students or professionals who needed to improve their language skills. My students included bankers, architects, military personnel and University professors. I am enthusiastic and committed to the success of my students, adjusting curriculum to fit the student, thus enabling them to meet their goals. I also tutored European History and Art history for middle and high school students, and have taught numerous drawing and painting workshops. Aside from teaching I am a working artist, have held numerous collective and solo exhibitions, and have won several awards for my work.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Adobe Photoshop

I have been using Adobe Photoshop for 10 years, and can teach students the concepts they need to achieve high quality results in a short period of time.

Drawing

I teach a system called 'Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain' developed by Betty Edwards. It is an extremely effective manner to learn to draw what you see that can be learned within the time frame of a workshop. It is fun, stimulating and relaxing all at the same time, and by the end students are always amazed at their own achievements.

ESL/ESOL

Over 15 years of teaching ESL have taught me how to effectively present the essential information for language learning to make it fun and relevant to every student. Classes focus on the student's particular needs, and grammar is understood through conversation.
