Calculus

I have taught and used calculus in my 36 years as a Professor at Brown University and my present job as a Professor at UMass Dartmouth. I have tutored calculus at high school, college, and graduate levels. I have used calculus in my engineering courses at MIT, Brown, and UMass.

Study Skills

Having taught at the college level for over 36 years and having advised undergraduate and graduate students during that same time, I have the experience necessary to teach students the study skills they need to master high school and college level technical subjects such as mathematics, chemistry, physics, engineering, etc.

It is not enough to be able to teach the subjects. One must also be able to teach students how to go about understanding what has been presented in class, in the terxtbooks, and in homework assignments. One must also be able to teach students how to look at examination problems, analyze the question, understand what is being sought, and then how to solve the problem.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
